This box is used when adding a new link to a network drawing, or when editing the properties of an existing link.

There are two sections to this box.  The first section is fixed, and the second section changes depending upon the selection chosen in the first section:

Link type

The top section of this dialogue box is used to select the transmission medium for the link being added or edited.  The available options are analogue (individual voice paths), T1 aggregate links (24 B channels), E1 aggregate links (30 or 31 B channels) and voice over IP.

The lower section changes depending upon the chosen link type.  If the link type is any type other than VoIP, then the number of links need to be entered.  If the chosen link type is Voice over IP, then the following parameters must be set:

Bandwidth

The bandwidth in kilobytes per second (kbps) provided for the link.

Data link protocol

The layer 2 (datalink) protocol for the link.  The available options are none, PPP, Ethernet, Frame Relay ATM and HDLC.  It is important to note that selecting Frame Relay does not imply Voice over Frame Relay and selecting ATM does not imply VoATM.  This selection only indicates the layer 2 protocol.
